IRS Income Tax Form 1099-R
For income tax purposes, PBGC reports pension payment distributions to PBGC payment recipients on IRS Form 1099-R. PBGC's paying agent will mail this form to those who need it in January of each year.
If you should have received the 1099-R form for a payment made to you by PBGC for the most recent tax year but did not receive one, or if you no longer have the 1099-R form that was mailed to you, you should get a copy of the form before filing your tax return for the year.

How to Obtain Your 1099-R From PBGC
- Use our online service, MyPBA, to view and print a copy of your 1099-R tax form(s) for the most recent tax year.
OR - Call PBGC's Customer Contact Center to request a copy of your 1099-R tax form.
- Call at 1-800-400-7242. For TTY/TDD users, call the federal relay service toll-free at 1-800-877-8339 and ask to be connected to the number above.
- Remember to have your social security number, plan name and case number ready for the customer service representative so that they are better able to help you.
